City's 98th Lord Mayor officially appointed
Labour councillor Lyn Sharpe was born in Fenton and worked for the city council for 40 years.

Stoke-on-Trent's 98th Lord Mayor has officially been appointed.
Labour councillor Lyn Sharpe represents the Fenton West and Mount Pleasant ward where she has always lived. She was sworn in on Thursday.
Ms Sharpe worked for Stoke-on-Trent City Council for four decades, mostly in residential children’s services, before taking early retirement in 2019.
Being Lord Mayor as Stoke-on-Trent reached its centenary year in 2025 would be "extra special", she said.
"We are planning so many wonderful events that acknowledge our proud past at the same time looking towards our future as a great city," Ms Sharpe added.
"I am excited and acknowledge it’s going to be a busy but demanding year and I am ready for the challenge."
During her time as Lord Mayor she will raise money for Emmaus North Staffs which helps people in need of essential furniture and appliances, and Period Power which provides free access to period products.
Ms Sharpe, who is a fourth generation Fentonian, volunteers at a foodbank, and supports local arts, according to the city council.
Her consort will be her husband, Kevin Sharpe. The deputy Lord Mayor will be Abbey Hulton Labour councillor Steve Watkins.
