£7m street light upgrade completed
More than 36,000 street lights have been replaced with LEDs in Sherwood, Clifton, St Ann’s, the Meadows and the Dales

A £7m project to upgrade more than 36,000 street lights with new, energy-efficient LEDs across Nottingham has been completed.
Street lights in Sherwood and Clifton were replaced first when the programme started in July 2022, followed by St Ann’s, the Meadows and the Dales.
Subway lighting and signage lights were also upgraded as part of the project, which was funded by the government's Levelling Up Fund.
Nottingham City Council said the lights would help support its aim to make the city carbon-neutral by 2028.
They would also help the city council save money by using less electricity and having a longer lifespan, the authority said.
Angela Kandola, city council portfolio holder for highways, transport and planning, said the rollout has been "very impressive".
"This milestone marks our commitment to sustainability and it's great that the new lights not only conserve energy but also significantly reduce operational costs," she added.
