Four Rangers fans have been banned indefinitely after a woman was assaulted and robbed outside Hampden before the club's game against St Johnstone on Saturday.

The 51-year-old woman, an employee of the Perth club, had a drum taken from her during the incident.

Rangers condemned the incident and said it was continuing to support Police Scotland with an investigation.

It came as a Rangers fan accused of resetting a drum before the St Johnstone game was ordered by a court to stay away from matches.

'Abhor and condemn'

A spokesperson for the club said: “Rangers can confirm it has issued indefinite bans to four individuals as inquiries continue following the incident outside Hampden Park on Saturday.

“Rangers has reached out to the St Johnstone employee to check on their wellbeing and to apologise on behalf of the club.

“We abhor and condemn all incidents like this in the strongest terms and continue to support Police Scotland with their ongoing investigation.”

Meanwhile at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Arran Watt, 22, was ordered to keep 500 metres away from stadiums where Rangers are playing as part of bail conditions.

Watt, of Irvine, North Ayrshire, is alleged to have reset a drum which was dishonestly appropriated by assault and robbery outside Hampden on Saturday.

He also faces a separate charge of conducting himself in a disorderly manner on Letherby Drive near the stadium.

It is claimed that he formed part of a disorderly crowd, ran through a crowd and ran away from police officers.

Watt is also alleged to have struggled with the officers, refused to co-operate with them when lawfully required to do so and committed a breach of the peace.

The 22-year-old, who appeared from custody, made no plea and was committed for further examination and granted bail.

The woman who was assaulted, believed to be a fan liaison officer, did not require hospital treatment.

Two other men, aged 16 and 21, were also arrested for breach of the peace and resisting arrest.
