A man who was accused of murdering his mother last year has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Claire Orrey, who was 58, was killed at Burnell Road in Admaston, Telford, on 30 July, 2023.

Robert Orrey, 31, of the same address, also admitted the attempted murder of his father Stephen Orrey.

He denied a charge of murder and will be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on 26 April.

Det Supt Tony Garner, who led the police investigation, said: “I am pleased for the family that there has been a guilty plea today and hope it helps them with their grieving process."
