Police are re-investigating allegations of child abuse at a former residential school in Aberdeen.

Detectives are understood to be contacting former pupils at Oakbank School in the Midstocket area.

The school closed in 2008 because of debts and falling referrals.

The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry has received statements from people who attended the school, which was for children with “emotional and behavioural problems”.

Evidence about Oakbank School has been heard at the inquiry in recent weeks.

Further evidence of child abuse at state accommodation between 1930 and 2014 will be heard at the inquiry in the coming months.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are re-investigating allegations of abuse made at a children’s home in the Aberdeen area.”
