Chris Robertshaw wins Douglas East by-election

Chris Robertshaw has been elected to the House of Keys in the Douglas East by-election.

The former managing director of the Sefton Hotel won with 388 votes, beating Liberal Vannin candidiate Kate Beecroft by a margin of 87.

Celebrity chef Kevin Woodford polled 276 votes, Colin Cain received 245, Jon Joughin polled 146 and Chris Heath 72.

Six candidates contested the seat which became vacant after Phil Braidwood was elected to the Legislative Council.

During the election campaign five people were arrested and bailed over allegations of corrupt or illegal practice in the proxy voting process.
