Traditionally, Glasto hasn't exactly been the home of pop. But over the last few years, thanks to ecstatically received sets from the likes of Scissor Sisters and Beyoncé, the festival has shed its pop inhibitions. This year's line-up featured a whole new generation of pop stars with attitude - Halsey, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa et al - who can deliver shows full of glam and glitz but also don't mind getting their hotpants muddy. No doubt, 2017 was the year Worthy Farm truly went pop.

Charli XCX

As we all know, Charli XCX likes to party Monday to Sunday, and keeps it going - even after the afterparty. So she was probably already a few days into her Glasto stride when helping to kick-off the official festivities on the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Introducing Stage with Annie Mac on Thursday night. True to her word, she then appeared mere hours later, rousing Glastonbury from its Friday slumber at midday on the Other Stage.

Dua Lipa

Thankfully the heatwave cooled, so it wasn't quite hotter than hell when Dua Lipa took to the John Peel stage on Friday afternoon. But looking she'd come directly from the gym - best abs at Glasto? - she soon raised the temperature with a set of energetically hollered current and future pop classics.

Clean Bandit

Not many other bands at Glastonbury can boast three UK No.1 singles in the last few years, making Clean Bandit arguably the poppiest of all the pop acts to play this year. But their mix of classical poise and dancefloor nous gives them broad appeal - they began Friday playing live on Chris Evans' Radio 2 show before going on to headline the John Peel stage with special guest Marina (of the Diamonds). Not to mention all the people on the campsite chanting Rockabye...

Lorde

After a brilliantly theatrical entrance, Glastonbury debutante Lorde captivated the Other Stage crowd on Friday night. Not only did she prove that she really has got an incredible set of pipes, she revealed an original and beautiful stage show that involved a troupe of dancers cavorting in a perspex box above her head. Loving that smudged-raspberry-print jumpsuit too.

Halsey

If Halsey isn't quite a massive global star of Katy Perry proportions yet, surely it's only a matter of time. A riot of a colour in a pink rainbow-print top, she threw everything into her Other Stage performance, even promising to come and party with everyone for the rest of the weekend. So if you spot someone with aquamarine hair holding court in the stone circle at sunrise, you'll know who it is.

Katy Perry (via Blossoms)

This pop thing is contagious, even infecting Glasto's indie contingent. In preparation for Katy Perry's Pyramid Stage takeover, here are Blossoms doing their version of Chained to the Rhythm.
