Every nominated artist wants to get their hands on a Folk Awards trophy and since the celebration began sculptor Mick Kirkby-Geddes has created every single one. Each Folk Award trophy is a bespoke design, made to represent the winner; that’s approximately 220 unique trophies over 19 years!
Mick makes the trophies in rural West Yorkshire, welding them together from scrap metal. Finished designs are bolted to wooden bases and completed with a shiny plaque. They can be pretty heavy!
