The Naked Truth

Ep. 1-4/4

The Naked Truth returns to Â鶹ԼÅÄ Three for a second series, giving a voice to young people as they share their revelatory, personal and surprising perspectives on life and their bodies, whilst naked.

Each episode in this four-part series will focus on a different topic related to body image: loose skin, tattoos, male body image and limb difference.

In each episode, contributors with the same type of body appearance, but differing experiences of it, are interviewed separately before two of them meet each other naked to talk about how they feel about their own and each other’s bodies. Promoting body positivity, empowerment and togetherness by sharing their experiences naked, will they come to terms with their own Naked Truth?

Episode One: Loose Skin
Recently, more women have been opening up on social media about what it's like to have loose skin and it has been widely accepted into the body positivity movement. But while some people learn to live with it, others find it very difficult, and some resort to surgery to have the loose skin removed. This episode features the stories of four women and one man who have all lost significant amounts of weight and are left with loose skin as a result, with very different perspectives on how they feel about the experience and their bodies.

Episode Two: Tattoos
Over the past 10 years, tattoo removal businesses in the UK have seen their revenues rise by more than 400 percent. Some people get tattoos on a whim, while for others, it can be a much more meaningful experience. This episode hears from a group of men and women, ranging from early 20s to late 50s, as they reveal their tattoo stories and how their tattoos affect and reflect their body image issues.

Episode Three: Male Body Image
Nearly a million British men are believed to use steroids to pump up their physique and look ‘good’ and eating disorders amongst men are on the rise. In this episode, five men - of all different shapes and sizes - talk about their own bodies and reveal what it’s like to feel the pressure to look the part in a six-pack-obsessed culture.

Episode Four: Bionic Men (w/t)
In recent years, there’s a been a huge growth online in the body positivity movement amongst amputees and people with a ‘limb difference’, but in a world which seems increasingly obsessed with having the ‘perfect body’, what’s it like to be missing one or more limbs? This episode meets four men - one born with a limb difference, two who lost limbs in accidents and one who chose to have a limb removed - as they talk about their bodies, how they came to have a limb difference, how other people see them and what it’s like to live with prosthetics.
