On Drums... Stewart Copeland!

Ep. 1/3 -

With the Police, Stewart Copeland toured the world and thrilled audiences with his dynamism and innovation behind the kit. Now Stewart explores the drums as the founding instrument of popular modern music.

Beats that travelled from Africa, via New Orleans and across the world, are the consistent force behind musical evolution. Along the way Stewart plays with some of the most inspiring drummers of the last 50 years including John Densemore of The Doors, Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Prince’s musical director Sheila E, New Order’s Stephen Morris and the Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins. He goes dancing in New Orleans, builds his own bass drum pedal and checks out hot new bands on Santa Monica beach.

Contributors include Derick Moss of Soul Rebels Brass Band, Taylor Hawkins a Foo Fighter, Stanton Moore, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Doors’ John Densemore, Bobby Hall a percussionist with Motown, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, and Joni Mitchell, Prince’s musical director and percussions Sheila E, Roger Linn who invented the Linn Drum Machine and New Order’s Stephen Morris.

This is the first episode in a new three-part series from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Four which takes an in-depth look at guitar, drums and bass with acclaimed artists and major contributors.
