Two Minute Tales: The Spirit Of Christmas
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Northern Ireland is to reveal the 10 shortlisted stories written by young people for Two Minute Tales during The Stephen Clements Show on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Ulster throughout next week.
Two Minute Tales is a new short story competition promoting creativity and imagination in Northern Ireland.
Launched in October, it was open to children and young people aged between five and 13, who were asked to write 300 words on the theme The Spirit Of Christmas.
It was down to the judges Stephen Clements; Lucy Caldwell and Kelly McCaughrain to shortlist 10 stories out of almost 1,300 entries from children and young people from across Northern Ireland.
The young finalists are from Rowandale Integrated Primary School, Moira; St Tierney’s Primary School, Roslea, County Fermanagh, and Ballywalter Primary School. As well as Belfast Royal Academy, Regent House Grammar School in Newtownards, and St Dominic’s Grammar School, Belfast.
Two Minutes Tales will be broadcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Ulster on The Stephen Clements Show from Monday 16 December from 10.30am, with an hour long special on Christmas Day, also on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Ulster at 12pm and also on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds.
And the finalist’s stories have been brought to life by some well-known faces from stage and screen - actors Ian McElhinney, Jamie Lee O’Donnell, Ryan McParland, Kerri Quinn and comedian and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Ulster presenter Shane Todd.
The top story in each age category (five to nine years and 10-13 years) have been turned into animations which and will be shared across Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Northern Ireland social media platforms on Friday 20 December.
