Call the Midwife Christmas Special

The nuns of Nonnatus House return for a Call The Midwife Christmas Special and this year’s episode will be previewed in Blackstaff Studios on Wednesday 18 December at 6.45pm. It promises to be another festive treat and an emotional work-out of the best sort. It’s also the perfect way to prepare for a brand new series of Call the Midwife on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One in early 2020!

We’ll be travelling with the midwives to a wintry Outer Hebrides - a place of stunning scenery and considerable hardship. We will see the midwives and sisters battling with the elements to provide much needed support to their patients. And all of them will reconvene at Nonnatus House in Poplar just in time for Christmas itself.

Call the Midwife is produced by Neal Street Productions for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ network television.

Mrs Brown’s Boys - Christmas Special

Mrs Brown’s Boys and its cast of quirky sitcom characters is the genius creation of Brendan O’Carroll. He takes centre stage once again as family matriarch Agnes Brown in two special episodes that have been recorded for the Christmas holidays.

There will be a preview screening of A Wonderful Mammy on Thursday 19 December at 6.45pm in which festive cheer seems to be in short supply in the Brown household in Finglas. Everyone seems to be a little bit at odds with each other and there are misunderstandings aplenty. And it’s at this point that Clyde, who claims to be an angel, makes an appearance and we’re off on a roller-coaster ride of laughs and comedy mischief.

Mrs Brown’s Boys is a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scotland, BOC-Pix and RTE production for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ network television.

The Snail And The Whale

This special treat is on Friday 20 December just as the school year finishes for the holidays and Christmas excitements begin.

The Snail And The Whale by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler tells the action-packed story of "a tiny snail and a great big, grey-blue humpback whale" and their seafaring adventures together. We’ll travel with them through stormy seas and tropical warmth and find out what happens when the whale gets lost and the snail has to think fast in order to save the day - and his friend’s life.

This adaptation captures the lyricism of Julia Donaldson’s writing and Axel Scheffler’s distinctive style of illustration. It features a stellar line-up of actors including Sally Hawkins (as the voice of the snail), Rob Brydon (who plays the whale), Caraid Lloyd (as the teacher whose pupils get busy during the story’s whale-sized emergency) and Dame Diana Rigg (as the story’s Narrator).

The Snail And The Whale has been produced by Magic Light Pictures for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ network television.
