An update on our work in Cox's Bazar

We're responding following a devastating fire that has left thousands of Rohingya people without shelter

The terrible fire in Cox’s Bazar on 5 March 2023 has affected an estimated 16,000 people and destroyed essential water, sanitation and health facilities, while leaving dangerous debris, missing children and a higher risk of violence, particularly against women.

Our team is responding to the crisis, helping to assess what families need, and sharing audio-visual content so that people know where and how to access help.

We have been working in Cox’s Bazar since 2017, focusing on communicating with communities and informing the humanitarian response about what is most needed where. We continue to work on fire incident preparedness and response in hope of preventing and mitigating such terrible incidents in future.
