Who we are at the International SBCC Summit

We were thrilled to be back at the International SBCC Summit in Marrakech!

Our audiences are at the heart of everything we do: this key Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ value is vital for us to create effective communication to change people's lives for the better. We talk to people across all the countries in which we work, to understand their lives and the impact of our work. We apply our research, our insights and our learning to our projects and programmes. We monitor and evaluate their effectiveness - and we share the learning with our partners and with the wider sector.

We had an exciting line-up of sessions at the - covering our projects and programmes, our insight and our learning on a wide range of topics, from climate change to maternal and newborn health to sanitation.

Our sessions - Monday 5 December

* 1.45-3.15pm – Blue Skies talk: Why Can’t We Be Friends? Bridging SBCC, CSR and the Entertainment Industry (Bahia - Mogador) - led by Social Impact Entertainment Society. With Varinder Kaur Gambhir, India Director of Research, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Media Action.

* 3.15pm-4pm - Going to scale using digital health communication to improve maternal, newborn and child health outcomes (Poster space) - with Johns Hopkins, Stanford University, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Government of India. With Varinder Kaur Gambhir, India Director of Research, and Anna Godfrey, Head of Evidence.

4pm-5.15pm - Using radio drama to tackle disability discrimination in Nigeria (Reda 5). With Kaushiki Ghose, Senior Research Manager

4pm-5.15pm - Talking 'shit': Lessons on Entertainment Education from an urban sanitation drama (Reda 4) - with OPM. With Anna Godfrey, Head of of Evidence.

* 4pm-5.15pm - The dirty truth: Scaling up strategies to improve WASH outcomes (Reda 4). With Varinder Kaur Gambhir, India Director of Research.

* 10.30 - 11.15 - Digital media for young people in Myanmar – breaking taboos and discussing reproductive health (Poster space). With Varinder Kaur Gambhir, India Director of Research

* 11.15-12.45 - Social and behaviour change: An accelerator for climate justice, human rights and sustainability (Plenary session). With Dr Sania Ashraf (research scientist, Rare), Rashika Das Roy (Oxford Policy Management) and Hatim Aznague (climate justice advocate). Moderated by Caroline Sugg, Director of Strategy and Partnerships.

* 4.15pm- 4.45pm - Applying ‘inoculation theory’ with SBCC to build resilience to mis- and disinformation at scale among digital audiences (Karam 1). Comms talk with Colin Spurway, North Africa Country Director

* 9.15-10.30am – The role of SBCC in peacebuilding and conflict prevention (Karam 4) - with JPAL and Equal Access. With Alasdair Stuart, Senior Governance Advisor.

* 3.30pm-4.15pm – Malasur - Making the invisible, visible with the Demon of Defeca  (Poster space). With Varinder Kaur Gambhir, India Director of Research.

* 9.15am-10.30am – Communication for climate action (Karam 1). With Rosiana Eko, Indonesia Research Manager

* 9.15pm-10.30am - Multimedia showcase – Niambie! (Tell me!) (Aud des Ministres). With Joseph Minde, Tanzania videographer.

* 4.15pm-4.45pm - Strength of storytelling (Reda 1). Moderated by Varinder Kaur Gambhir, India Director of Research

* 4.45-6.15pm – Harnessing SBCC for climate action: Making sense of the evidence and practice to accelerate transformational change (Karam 4) - With Global Alliance for SBC and USAID and recorded contributions from Norad and Kenya Meteorological Services. With Rosiana Eko, Indonesia Research Manager, and Colin Spurway, North Africa Country Director. Moderated by Anna Godfrey, Head of Evidence.
