Stickboy scores a double

Sparkling singer-songwriter Stickboy, aka Craig Edmondson, is celebrating on two fronts, after following up an unexpected turn on a hit US show with the release of a new EP, Basement Sessions.

Craig, who’s already had songs used on a couple of adverts, got a call out of the blue from America to say that the producers of Gossip Girl, the hit US series based on the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, wanted to use his track, Today, as part of the show’s soundtrack.

The news came as something of a shock to the singer, who admits he wasn’t even sure how much of a big deal it was to begin with.

"I wasn’t sure if this was big news or not, but apparently its huge over there. When I found out it was by the same people who did The O.C. I realised that this is amazing!"

The Basement Sessions EP doesn’t include Today (that was on one of his older collections), but it does have five gems filled with his usual tender meanderings and, in a nod to the Yuletide season, a cover of Bing Crosby’s White Christmas hidden away at the end.

It’s a limited release so you’ll have to move fast to get your hands on a copy. As for the Gossip Girl appearance, we’ll just have to wait until it makes it way over to our shores.
