Whilst filming in Manhattan, the NYPD decided to have a word with Paul after he shouted βshoot the copsβ at a passing police car. According to Angel Pannetonne, the director of the promo, the problem arose because of the massive headphones Ryder was wearing. "He saw an NYPD cop car approaching and got excited, so started shouting to the camera operator 'Shoot the cops!ΜύShoot the cops!' Because he was wearing headphones, he didn't realise how loud his voice was.ΜύThey obviously heard him, screeched their car to a halt and then all hell broke loose."

Paul was grabbed by four uniformed officers, held against a wall and frisked, before the police realised all he had actually been doing was give directions to the camera operator, rather than tell someone to have a pop at the passing car. Thankfully it all ended amicably with the cops wanting Ryder to autograph their notebooks and asking to be filmed as extras in the video, though the Big Arm frontman insists he wonβt be trying his hand at directing again. "That's the last time I try to give instructions to a camera operator," he said, "in future, I'll just stick to singing!"
