The smell of burning is still on my clothes and in my hair Darren Green, Manchester I got off a bus in Piccadilly Gardens this morning only to see them completely swamped in smoke. Fire was already raging at 6:05 as I came into town.Ìý Smoke covered Piccadilly gardens and down Portland Street.Ìý Police were jsut arriving.ÌýÌý Now I'm sat in my office on the other side of the Gardens to the Fire and there is a police helicopter circling.ÌýÌý Strong smell of smoke in the office, and from where I am on teh 25th floor, then you can see a carpet of smoke covering the majority of the City Centre.Ìý Simon Goodhead, Manchester Took these photos at 6.30am this morning when the fire was most developed, i think. While I was there, there was a couple of very loud bangs. As I was leaving, the Fire Service were taking water from the canal.
