The Mekkits!
The Mekkits!

The Mekkits!

in their own words...
The Mekkits! came together in Manchester last year. After none stop gigging in Manchester, London, Liverpool and Leeds, The Mekkits have made a name for themselves on the local scene and around the UK.

The Mekkits!

What We Think:

"There’s no escaping the fact that The Mekkits is a rubbish name, but then so is Radiohead, and they’ve done alright. This Manc five piece might never make it to their lofty heights, but with their toe-tapping Zuton-esque sound, they could do better than most. It’s simple stuff, all ska-ed up and thrown about with suitable mischief, and it’s all the better for it. With a following wind and a bit of luck, they might just mekkit…"
Chris Long

Their reputation is built on headlining their own shows and supporting the likes of The Research, Misty's Big Adventure, Field Music, Alterkicks and Mr Scruff.

With several fantastic reviews for their first and second demos, airplay on Elbow's Guy Garvey's XFM Manchester, airplay in the States and headline appearances at Swap, D:Percussion and In The City Festivals, The Mekkits agree things at this stage could not be going any better.

They have been described as follows;

"Primary coloured skiffle pop..." - THE METRO (Oct 06)

"It sounds like the music that the Southwest beach kids could impregnate each other to..." - PAUL RAFFERTY, HOT CLUB DE PARIS (Feb 06)

"Madcap and colourful The Mekkits are a breath of fresh, carefree air in a world that takes itself far too seriously..." - MANCHESTER MUSIC (Jan 06)

The double a side ‘Holiday Song’ and ‘The Animals Left the Zoo’ will be released on Forecast Records in May 2007... Oh, and last night I ate two Pork chops... I said two Pork Chops...
