Out of the shadows

We stumbled across Cohesion at a Rampant Lion Garden Party earlier in the summer and they rocked our world so much that when we heard they were releasing a new EP, we just had to get in touch and ask frontman Andrew O'Hara about it.

Why's the EP called Shadows In The Shade?

Cohesion launch their Shadows In The Shade EP at Night and Day on Saturday 26 August. The band are on stage at 9.45pm. Entry is 拢6 (拢5 with flyer - available on the MySpace site)

"The EP was recorded in a creepy old cellar of a house in Manchester. We have all seen and heard some strange goings-on down there and are sure the place is haunted."

What's the lead track, Behind Closed Doors, about?

"We have all seen and heard some strange goings-on down there and are sure the place is haunted."

"It's about watching someone close to you going through real emotional turmoil and being helpless to stop it."

You've been described as feeling 'like an ice-cold beer on a blazing hot afternoon'. How would you describe yourselves?

"We don't sound like a typical Manchester band but there is a definite air of optimism running through our music that all good bands from round here have. We鈥檙e no good at describing ourselves, so come to our next gig and judge for yourself."

Who are your influences?

Cohesion

"Our rhythm section are into heavy rock and metal bands whereas Kevin and myself prefer more melodic, atmospheric bands like The Beach Boys, The Smiths and Interpol. This leads to many an argument but also helps shape our own sound."

You're launching your EP at Night and Day. What can people expect from the show?

"Lots of energy, lots of passion, and good tunes a-plenty!"
