Blowout

Sounds From The Other City II
Since it began in Chorlton Irish Club, Blowout's exploded right across the city, bringing top bands and new music on a weekly basis, and become known as the place to hear the hottest acts. Blowout's Graham Thomas takes us through his SFTOC II.

Blowout

  • Blowout take command of the Mark Addy from 4pm to 11pm
  • Acts playing: The Whip, Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames, The Nightjars, The Forest, Sundowner, The Maple State, Day For Airstrikes

Why are you involved with Sounds From The Other City?

"We've known Dead Digital and the Islington Mill Collective since we started out. Initially through the much missed Escape Pod, who were always a favourite at our gigs. We all attended SFTOC last year and had a great day - especially the legendary aftershow party in the Mill. So we were honoured to be asked to get involved this time."

Who's the stand-out act on your stage?

"Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames are going to be a highlight. They're signed to Dance To The Underground in Leeds. We've tried to keep a theme of quality new post-rock, punk and experimental stuff in the bands we've chosen. It's a Sunday after all."

Why is Sounds From The Other City important?

Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames
Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames

"It’s important because there's very little, if anything, of its sort happening in the city centre. Hopefully, it will build upon last year’s success story and become a regular fixture in the calendar. Reading this year’s line up shows the good work Dead Digital have put in and the fantastic state of health of the DIY music scene. I’m personally hoping to nip out for Cherry Ghost, I Had An Inkling and Former Bullies."

If you had to choose between the music of Salford and Manchester, which would it be?

"As a Welshman, I'd have to say, no comment!"
