We have a number of upcoming online training opportunities in 2024.
We’re running three week-long masterclasses in investigative data journalism, which are designed to equip journalists with the skills and confidence to find stories in datasets.
The week-long courses take place over Zoom from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
- April 29th to May 3rd
- September 23rd to 27th
- November 4th to 8th
Sessions include:
- How to sort, filter and pivot in Google Sheets
- Freedom of Information
- Cleaning data to eliminate mistakes
- How to make great visualizations
- How to interpret financial data
- How to make maps from geospatial data
In addition, we’re also offering a two-day introduction to using spreadsheets, which will take place online from July 17th to 18th.
We’re also running our summer coding course for journalists.
The introduction to the programming language R will take place at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s Mailbox offices in Birmingham from July 24th to 25th.
Later in the year, we’re also planning to offer a two-day advanced masterclass in data journalism, which will include sessions on interrogating APIs, scraping datasets and analysing financial data.
