Mosslands School in Wirral is searching for old photographs, films and memorabilia to celebrate its 100th birthday. The school has a varied history, which the project called 'Rewind' aims to reflect, it has been located on several sites in Wallasey, and at one point in New Brighton. Current Mosslands students and teachers would like ex-pupils, staff, governors, parents or even neighbours to get in touch with old school photos or memorabilia tracing the past 100 years. An archive gym scene from Mosslands "The school has very little archive material," Helga Stockbridge told Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Merseyside explaining, why they are appealing for people to search through their attics and photo albums. "We’re fortunate to be supported by The Heritage Lottery Fund so that’s enabled a bigger project and more people able to get involved." "The school’s had numerous name changes so people don’t recognise it as one and the same school." "We’re wanting people to come forward with old photos and any memorabilia." The school has been known by various names over the past hundred years including The Higher Elementary School, Wallasey Central School, Wallasey Secondary Technical School and Wallasey Technical Grammar School. The project is creating a mural of faces from all pictures collected and Year 11 pupils are making a film which will be issued on DVD and a retrospective book and exhbitions. To submit material contact the school on 0151 638 8131. last updated: 23/04/2009 at 17:34 SEE ALSOYou are in: Liverpool > History > Discover > The Places > 100 years of schooling |
