My Fair Lady celebrates 50th birthday in Liverpool!

On 15th March, The Cameron Mackintosh production of My Fair Lady will celebrate its 50th Birthday whilst in Liverpool at the Empire Theatre.


My Fair Lady originally opened on 15th March 1956 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York.Precisely 50 years later, the show finds itself at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool.

In celebration, at the end of the show on the 15th, a 50th Birthday cake will be cut by the current cast - Amy Nuttall (Eliza), Christopher Cazenove (Professor Higgins) and Gareth Hale (Alfred P Doolittle). They will be joined on stage by Liz Robertson who played Eliza in the first new production of My Fair Lady that Cameron Macintosh produced in London in 1979.

About The Actors:

CHRISTOPHER CAZENOVE made his London theatre debut in “The Lionel Touch” with Rex Harrison. Other West End productions include “The Winslow Boy”, “An Ideal Husband” and “Brief Encounter”. His TV credits include “Dynasty” and his film credits include “Zulu Dawn”, “Three Men and a Little Lady” and “A Knight’s Tale”.

AMY NUTTALL is probably best known for her role as ‘Chloe Atkinson’ in “Emmerdale”. She first worked for Cameron when she understudied and played ‘Christine’ in the national tour of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’.

GARETH HALE will play ‘Alfred P Doolittle’. Gareth is best known as one half of the award winning comedy duo ‘Hale and Pace’. His theatre credits include “Bouncers” and “Perfect Pitch”.

“MY FAIR LADY” has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe and is adapted from Bernard Shaw’s play “Pygmalion” and Gabriel Pascal’s motion picture.
