Dunlops Under 8s play Orchard in the cup.Ìý Orchard are the team who beat us 4 - 1 last week in a league game at Dunlops, but this week the game was played at Heron Eccles.Ìý Sometimes it looked like there was 2 matches taking place here - Orchard v Dunlops and Orchard/Dunlops v the mud and the rain!!! The game kicked off at mid day - the pitches had already been well worked all morning and the rain was pouring down. Can you picture the scene? Dunlops had Luke D and James (Bullitt) H back in their line up after being ill last time out, but were without Ben Mc. Dunlops had the best of the of the early play and rightfully took the lead midway through the firstÌý half with yet another goal by goal machine Conor J.Ìý The first half was almost all played in the Orchard half with their keeper most definitely the most worked lad on the pitch.Ìý
The half seemed to be over far too quickly and it was disappointing when the ref blew for half time.Ìý It was hard to believe that Dunlops play in light shirts, as all of the boys were completely covered from head to toe in Heron Eccles mud!Ìý Half Time Orchard 0 - Dunlops 1. The early 2nd half play was all Orchard with them forcing countless corners and numerous saves from the Dunlops 'keeper.Ìý Their domination paid off when they equalised after 5 mins.Ìý Orchard continued to push forward and were awarded a dubious penalty.Ìý
Daniel L in goal pulled off a superb save to push the spot kick by Oliver over the bar, keeping the score line level.Ìý What followed the penalty save was fascinating end to end play when either team could scored goal to win the tie.Ìý Both keepers had fabulous gamesÌý and the scoreline at the end was Orchard 1 Dunlops 1.ÌýÌý
A very entertaining game.Ìý Dunlops were the happier team at sharing the result because when the teams have previously met, Orchard have always ended up the winners.Ìý Our boys gave them a shock this week! First half Man of Match award was given to Luke D and the overall award was shared between 'keeper Daniel L and Steven F but Liam L came close for a brilliant captains performance. |
