Leeds Young People's Film Festival 2008

Returning for a ninth year, the festival is cram-packed with celluloid treats.

Leeds Young People's Film Festival 2008 begins on Thursday 27 March with films, top guests and filmmaking workshops. The region's premier film event specifically for young people opens with a preview of the eagerly-awaited 'Son Of Rambow', about a sheltered boy in the 1980s who befriends the local bad boy and decides to re-make the hit movie, 'Rambo'.

Also featuring are CGI animation adventure 'Impy's Island', and the powerful documentary 'We Are Together', following a South African orphanage's attempt to raise funds by sending its incredible choir on a fraught UK to tour.

Guests at this year's Film Festival include the novelist and screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce - author of the Danny Boyle-directed smash 'Millions' - will introduce a special screening of the film and give a free masterclass on scriptwriting and filmmaking on Friday 28 March 2008 at the Vue cinema in Kirkstall.

Other guests at this year's festival include Harley Cokeliss introducing his film, 'An Angel For May' as well as a free masterclass on how the film was made and how to get into the film industry.

'We Are Together'

'We Are Together'

Temple Clarke has been working as a feature film storyboard artist for 15 years. In this interactive workshop, he explains what his job involves, how he puts storyboards together and what they are used for.ΜύHe's worked on blockbusters such as 'The World Is Not Enough', 'The Da Vinci Code' and 'The Golden Compass'. Brought to you by BAFTA Families, the session will involve the audience working on real storyboard situations with Temple. This is a FREE event but you need to BOOK tickets to make sure you get a place!

Masterclasses in comic book art and animation will be delivered by artist Adi Granov (The Iron Man comics) and animator Curtis Jobling (Bob the Builder, Frankensteins Cat) see below for details.
