Wolves show their teeth

In a tight game Woodkirk Valley Wolves Under 12s just get the better of Stanningley Albion.

Garforth Junior Football League Under 12's - Division 2

Sunday 18 November 2007

Stanningley Albion 1 - 2 Woodkirk Valley Wolves

Albion came out from the beginning wanting to win this game against a top of the table team that had not lost a game so far. With aggression, determination and a belief in themselves, Albion played what can only be described as "the beautiful game". Woodkirk did not know what had hit them. As the half time period approached a hard-hitting tackle from a Woodkirk defender caused a 'mild reaction' from Albion attacker Tom Crowther for whom the red mist came down quickly followed by a red card.

Albion started the second half one man down and had to regroup. Again Albion took the game to Woodkirk. Piling on the pressure Albion were rewarded with a fine flowing move resulting in a goal from Jack Witton. Being down to ten men was not always going to be easy but Albion showed their mettle. Woodkirk seemed to kick up a gear and eventually scored an equalliser. With Albion under so much pressure it seemed another goal might be coming and indeed it did to give the Wolves all three points.
