Feed the birds

CSV Action is calling on your help once again to help the feathered friends in your garden! The RSPB are asking you to join in on Feed the Birds Day on Saturday 27 October 2007.

With the Winter nights beginning to draw in and the temperature dropping a bit our birds and wildlife just need that little bit of extra help. So the RSPB and CSV Action are asking you to look at different ways of helping the wildlife in your back garden whether you have a stately home or small backyard!

In terms of what to feed your birds - CSV Action have a pack full of useful information, including a recipe for a rather tasty sounding Coconut Crunch! David Hirst is from the RSPB and told CSV Action "Different birds like different foods, just like us. Blackbirds really like fruit, particularly berries and apples; birds like a bit of cheese, peanuts and sunflower seeds as well as the odd scrap from the kitchen such as left over jacket potato! You can also buy ready made bird food from your local supermarket or pet store."

Feed the Birds day falls in nicely with CSV Make a Difference Day - where you can make a difference from the comfort of your own home AND enjoy watching the wildlife appreciate your effort. Also if you start feeding the birds in your garden now, it will help for our next big campaign with the RSPB at the end of January which is the Big Garden Birdwatch.

So for your free Feed the Birds day pack which includes that Coconut Crunch recipe, 15 great garden bird facts, how to make a nestbox AND a brilliant gardener's calendar which helps you figure out what needs doing during what month to keep the wildlife coming in, get in touch with CSV Action.
