There's always someone on your street who's got a better garden than you..Μύ and you really fancy having a good nosey at but you can't! Well, the National Garden Scheme could help you get your fill of flowers, shrubs and glorious gardens.

A beautiful view of Carol's garden

For 80 years this charity has been opening garden gates, in England and Wales, to anyone willing to pay a small fee to have a look around gardens of quality, character and interest. The fee to admire these gardens, which are pruned and usually cared for by volunteer house owners, goes to a range of different charities each year.

West Yorkshire has a host of the National Garden Scheme gardens, one of which is in Huddersfield and is under the careful attention of Carol Puszkiewicz. Carol just loves opening her garden gate to guests.

Carol has raised over Β£1400 in 2007 for the charities that the National Garden Scheme supports with the main open day she held and group bookings. Another Β£350 was raised by the Rastrick FC U14s providing refreshments on the open day.

Still time to take it easy...

Many people are keen gardeners but are you thinking.. 'my house is no stately garden'?. But anyone can join the scheme, it doesn't matter how big or small your garden is, as long as there's a certain amount of interesting features. You could even team up with your neighbour and do a joint garden scheme!
