Otis Reading with Booker T and the MG's, and The Marquees at The Queens Hall 1967 the place was heaving. Joe Cocker at Mark Altman's Ballroom on Great George Street in 1966 great gig, blew everyone away. Carl Perkins, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Them (Gloria), Memphis Slim, John Lee Hooker, Little Walter and lots of others all at the Three Coins on Mill Hill in the early sixties. No booze in the club but Yate's Wine Lodge just around the corner, happy days.

an little-known Lynyrd Skynyrd played Leeds Univ in 1976 and then returned to the same venue a year later, to a phenominal reception, played Alabama & Freebird etc at both gigs. Amazing!

MOTORHEAD @ LEEDS QUEENS HALL 1981.The gig was recorded and part of it was included on the bands first # 1 album 'no sleep till hammersmith' My first ever gig, i was 12 years old at the time and still to this day i miss the good old days of the queens hall ( I CANT FIND ANY PICTURES OF THE BUILDING ANYONE GOT ANY?).Whats in its place now a gravel car park!!! what a waste of a good rock & punk venue! When will Leeds city council learn?! p.s. Why couldnt we of had the stones back at roundhay this year instead of Mr 'ive no talent' williams.Bring back the 80's this town has no soul anymore,just a load of trendy wine bars & silly trendy shops (whats in the duchess of yorks place?!) a silly trendy shop! Do we nead a concert venue YES!!!!!

Elton John @ Leeds University 1972 just as 'Don't Shoot Me' albumn came out. I arranged a coach trip from Bretton Hall College. It cost us 2 quid each including bus fares!! He was magic!

The Stone Roses at Leeds Polytechnic in June 1989, supported by local boys The Bridewell Taxis was one of my favorite gigs of all time. The Roses had put on a great show just a couple of months earlier at the Warehouse, but the return leg lifted the roof off the poly.

The best Yorkshire Gigs I've been to:- Stones 25/07/82 Radiohaed, circa Nov '98 at the Dome Donny, Embrace in the millenium square this year!!! The Carling weekend 2000 was on the whole fantastic, but Eminem in 2001 was rubbish!

CREAM - December 67, just a few weeks after Disraeli Gears was released and at their zenith - Leeds University - Ticket 8/6d - Absolutely heaving, had to stand on a table to be able see anything. Truly phenomenal

I saw the Beatles LIVE on the stage at the Odean Cinema in Leeds in, I think, 1963. Ps I couldn't hear them though. Susan Maughan and I think Freddy and the Dreamers were on the same bill. John Pertwee was the master of ceremonies, was he BLUE!

Ramones Leeds Uni Jan 26 1980. Ably supported by The Boys. What a fantastic night of punk! I must have lost two stone through sweat. Mention also to Roger McGuinn at Leeds Varieties a couple of years ago. A masterful solo performance so good you would have thought he had the rest of The Byrds with him.

I was at the Radiohead gig at the T&C - 01/11/1995 for the Bends tour, and it is in my top 10 gigs. They were absolutly awsome that night, playing the entire Bends album along with some old classics ! I had some brilliant nights at the T&C and was gutted when it shut so Leeds could have yet another trendy wine bar.

I'm not sure of the year, late sixties probly. At the Odeon Theatre Leeds, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Ike and Tina Turner, Peter Jay and the Blue Jays. Those where the days, was on holiday from the States visiting the old home town.
