Domestic violence

Posed by actors

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is where the hate is

Did you know over two women per week are killed by current or ex-partners, and that one in four women in the UK will experience domestic violence in their lifetime?

Every year in Hull it is estimated that there are over 24,000 cases of domestic violence and three quarters of these go unreported.Μύ

12% of children in Hull are living in households where there is domestic violence, meaning that in an average class of 30 pupils, the lives of three or four children will be affected.

Louise is one young Hull mum who's life was torn apart by years of abuse at the hands of her partner. Although she escaped, she still lives in fear of her ex (which is why her voice has been altered).

Here, Louise tells her story of what happened when she found out she was pregnant...

Louise said it was the psychological rather than the physical abuse that was worse...

Vicky Burton from the NSPCC in Hull says Louise is far from alone. She encourages anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help..

The 'phone number of the NSPCC in Hull is: 01482 837822
