Alan Plater has had a successful career in television and theatre. He is best known for his work on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ series Z Cars and The Biederbecke Affair, as well as being a long standing fan of Hull City.  The writer was born in Jarrow in 1935 and was brought up in Hull from the age of three, where he lived for many years. His relationship with the late Anthony Minghella stretched back over 30 years ago when Minghella was a student at the University of Hull. The writer said it was βan honourβ to conduct the ceremony at the Universityβs drama department but is still angered and upset by the death of his old friend.
