Watch the skies

As a UFOlogist, keen sporstman, writer and photographer is always on the go.

Early years

I first became interested in photography when I was quite young. I couldn't practice it as a hobby, as film development costs were expensive for an eleven-year-old in 1971. Around this time after slum clearances in the Beverley Rd and Sculcoates Lane areas of Hull, I moved to Bransholme.

It was two years later I developed an interest in UFO's or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena as it is sometimes called today. My interest in UFOlogy began in 1973 after sighting something in the sky I couldn't explain. Since then I've followed reports of UFOs in the Hull and East Yorkshire region with great interest.

UFOs and the paranormal

In 1994, after investigating a controversial local case, I became a representative for Quest International which produced 'UFO Magazine' and started my own newsletter called 'Faster Than Light' focusing on aspects of UFOlogy and the paranormal.

In 1996 with the help of colleagues, I jointly founded the Hull UFO Society (HUFOS), as a focal point for local people's involvement in UFOlogy and in 1997 organised my first successful mini- conference in this endeavour. After leaving HUFOS around 1998 I developed closer links with a former BUFORA (British UFO Research Organisation) and local amateur astronomer, Gary Anthony.Μύ Gary and I continue to individually research the enigmatic UFO topic.

Gary and myself are the founders of EYE (East Yorkshire Encounters), an organisation which covers Hull, East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and surrounding areas. EYE has investigated both historical and new sightings, and other aspects of UFOlogy. EYE Magazine was produced to keep other investigators and researchers informed of their findings.

The magazine also received contributory articles from authors and investigators Philip Mantle, Jenny Randles, Clive Potter, Colin Bennett, Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos (from Spain), Geoff Richardson (Why Files and also a Hull based UFO investigator), Sandy Nichols (USA-Experiencer), Dave Clarke, Andy Roberts and more. It was published four times a year. but is no longer in print.

Sport and photography

During the mid-1980's, Channel 4 began showing American football sparking a nationwide interest in the sport and teams sprung up everywhere, including Hull and the Hull Kingston Liberators were born.
I joined the 'Libs' as we became known in the mid-eighties and became the team's press officer. I was responsible for getting the match reports onto the local radio stations and into the local press for around five years.

In 1991 I left the Liberators to form the Hull Pirates Youth American Football Club, which in its only year of competitive football,1992, came third nationally having only lost out to eventual champions; The Fen Harriers.

Several more attempts were made to re-establish 'Gridiron' in Hull during the 1990's with the Kingston Barbarians and the Humberside Rockets. Eventually, I had some involvement with the Doncaster Mustangs, this was mainly thanks to an old friend and football team mate, Peter Scorah who was a player with the team. I produced game day programmes as my playing days were long over.

A highlight of this involvement was becoming a team official during their 2002 Division Two championship season travelling to and from Doncaster every Sunday for several years. Later along with Graham McCoid I formed another new team for the Hull area, The Hull Hornets. I was club chairman from its inception in 2005 until standing down in mid-2007. I have taken many photos of the Hornets in action, which are on display at my personal website, there's a link on this page.
