Alternative gardening with Paul Wynne

Paul Wynne

This ex-art student who works at David Lister High School in Hull, has for the past few years been involved in the writing and performing group, The Hull Blokes.

Paul has a creative side to him which comes out in his work with the Hull Blokes. Sometimes a writer, he's also made some films when funds permit and is always looking for new stimulating projects.

Although he spent the first decade of his life in Hull, when his father's job took the family to Scotland, Paul found himself immersed in a different culture. Paul found the tiny primary school he attended a different experience to what he had been used to in Hull.

Although he had a difficult time at school, he still managed to make some long lasting friendships with the people he met in the small village where he lived
and managed to come away with a Scottish accent and a love of Dundee United. He says conversely although his dad originally hails from Scotland, he has a strong Hull accent.

Paul's career has taken many different paths, but he decided that he wanted a degree which is why he found himself in Nottingham taking a degree in art.

Paul and friend do alternative gardening

This is where his unusual picture comes in. For a fellow student's art project, he ended up one very chilly day reclining on a sun lounger in the back garden of a council house in the city. With some strategically placed gnomes, another 'model' appeared complete with a vacuum cleaner who was encouraged to vacuum the lawn.

Paul says he can't recall the name of the student whom he thinks came from Finland, but says it was a most unusual event to take part in and was just the sort of thing his fellow students would get up to in pursuit of their degree.
