Every Picture Tells a Story

Lynne Taylor

Writer, performer and filmmaker, Lynne Taylor from Hull certainly leans toward the more creative, artistic side of life.

Growing up in Hull, Lynne was drawn to the theatre and was a member of the Hull Truck Youth Theatre where she was encouraged to write a play. Although, as she reveals in her interview she's always been writing creatively from the age of seven.

After leaving school, she took a job with the Civil Service. It turned out this wasn't the job for her and says of experience, she was a round peg in a square hole. Eventually she took off for drama school in Birmingham. This represented a significant change in the direction her life was about to take.

Writing is now at the forefront of her activities and as part of her experience of writing, she wrote a one woman show which she went on to perform herself.

In 2004 Lynne made a film short which was shown at the Hull Short Film Festival in 2005. She says she learnt a lot making the film and says it was quite an experience putting the project together. She describes, leading a team of people and being responsible for the production as "challenging." The film, 'The Woolkeep' is about a woman knitting a huge protective barrier made of wool around her home and her way of life.

Science Fiction has figured quite highly in her list of interests, being a member of a Hull based science fiction club, she's always been drawn to the subject. In 2007 together with Howard Baker another local writer, they wrote a sci-fi thriller.

Presently, Lynne is writing scripts for television and she's attempting to get her work published through an agent. She's also looking for professional actors for a production she's trying to put on at a venue in Hull.
