The Late Show met the husband and wife team who have found themselves in some of the most exotic places in the world, whilst indulging their passion for running.

Dave Annandale is a trustee at the RSPCA on Clough Road in Hull and helps raise money for the centre by taking part in 'Adventure Races'.Μύ Races are usually between 100 and 150 miles in remote locations. He's raced in the Sahara, the Gobi, Mongolia, Nepal, Northern India and China. In AugustΜύ 2007, both he and Emma raced in the Atacama desert in Chile. Emma was the 'first lady' of the 150 mile race and has been placed in the top three ladies a few times. Dave came in 12th overall.

In February 2007 they're going to Vietnam. In addition to running races, Dave is also actively involved in setting courses. He's heading to a remote location in the North of Vietnam close to the Chinese border, there are no maps, just jungle trails and instructions to take in the summit of Fanispan, the highest mountain in Indochina, 3143 metres above sea-level.

From the heat of the desert Dave finds himself at the other end of the temperature scale in November later this year. He's been invited to run in a 150 mile race in Antarctica, although 80 mile an hour winds and with temperatures plunging down to -40c coupled with snow 30 to 40 feet deep, sometimes it becomes a test to see who can go the furthest. Dave is running once again in support of the RSPCA.

Emma is a GP and Dave is involved with the family kitchen business and both have had a life long interest in this extreme sport. They metΜύ when Dave was a mountain climbing instructor and Emma was on one of his courses. In addition to running Emma has often found herself as a medic on some races and says there's a lot or responsibility when looking after athletes who are pushing themselves to extremes.

During their interview, we hear how being physically fit isn't all you need to take part in these tests of endurance, some days they reveal you run the equivalent of two marathons on the same day. Mental toughness is just as important.
