A first aid demo on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Humberside

Do you know your first aid?

First aid experts Andy Train and Jeanette Harrison show Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Humberside’s Andy Comfort the basics of first aid.

We all know the number 999 but what if you had to react quickly if someone needed first aid? What would you do? Are you qualified to deliver first aid or would you panic?

According to new figures, one in three people don't know how to administer first aid.

First aid demo

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Humberside’s breakfast presenter Andy Comfort invited Jeannette Harrison, a Red Cross Instructor and Andy Train, who is a Training and Development Officer within the NHS, to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ studios in Hull to demonstrate the basics of first aid.

The breakfast team’s very own Kate Murphy became the guinea pig for the demonstration, as both Jeanette and Adam discussed what to do in the event of finding someone unconscious.

Basic first aid included checking the ABC (Airway, Breathing, Circulation), putting someone into the recovery position and treating deep lacerations.

When asked why is it important that people know how to administer first aid, Jeanette Harrison told The Breakfast Show how the first 10 minutes after an accident are crucial in saving a life.
