SCOTTISH
PARLIAMENT The humble beginnings of the Scottish parliament
can be traced back to the 12th century and the official website
of the new Scottish Parliament offers a good chronicle. You
can discover how the Treaty of the Union in 1707 changed Scotland’s
politics and how the Scots' role in the new British Parliament
at Westminster developed.
NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF SCOTLAND The National Archives of Scotland holds the historical
public and legal records of Scotland which deserve permanent
preservation, including the acts of Parliament, maps, plans,
church records and private archives. A wealth of information
for the budding historian - including the Jacobites and the
events surrounding the union.
