tale of Gregory and his pursuit of the unobtainable Dorothy, star
striker in his school football team. |

Gregory's
Girl is one of the finest British comedy films ever made.
Bill Forsyth's tale of Gregory, the awkward gangling teenager, and
his hopeless pursuit of the glamorous Dorothy is a masterpiece.
From the idea of making Dorothy the striker of the school football
team to the unexplained child in a penguin costume who roams the corridors
for no apparent reason, there isn't a weak scene or a wasted line.
Norbury Theatre's Youth Section have bravely taken up the challenge
of turning a classic film into a successful stage production.
It's never an easy trick to pull off particularly when the film is
so well known.
On the other hand what better story for young actors to perform, with
its wealth of memorable characters?
Playing Gregory made John Gordon Sinclair a star, and the original
film also featured a then unknown Clare Grogan as Susan, the girl
who finally wins Gregory's heart.
Who knows what stars of the future will emerge from this production?
