'I'm
just a bloke in a room talking,' says Dylan Moran, star of the side-splittingly
funny Channel 4 comedy series Black Books, of his shambolic and eccentric
stand-up show, Monster, coming to The Courtyard this February.
A hugely experienced performer and one of the most respected comedians
on the circuit, Dylan Moran has a huge cult following.
His fans adore his daft-as-a-brush, slightly inebriated comedy style.
In this new show, expect moments of pure brilliance as he leaves set
pieces and takes off into mad unfettered flights of transcendent nonsense.
The apparently drunk and careless execution of his act has the same
charm as when he won the Perrier award in 1996.
Then, he was a raw 25 year old from Navan, County Meath.
Seven years later, with two successful television sitcoms and acclaimed
comedy tours in the bag, he's working with the likes of Michael Caine
and Michael Gambon in Conor MacPherson's first feature film The Actors
to be released later this year. |
