MediaDev is an initiative of Hereford's Rural Media Company.

They will be exploring DIY documentary film making in a brand new series of workshops this autumn.

Doing Docs brings together media professionals, documentary producers and independent filmmakers in a lively series of workshops at the Courtyard.

Whether you are a media wannabe, a graduate, a media artist, or a seasoned professional Doing Docs will introduce you to new ways of working and new techniques to sharpen your practice and inspire new direction.

Documentary Directions on Saturday 18th September is the first of three courses and will be hosted by Dick Fontaine and Julie Moggan from the National Film and Television School, which successfully runs a two-year course enabling filmmakers to take risks with form and content and find their own distinctive voice.

Dick, a renowned filmmaker, and Julie, a recent course graduate, will talk about operating outside "the system" and screen some of their work.

Undercurrents, an award-winning yet alternative company, will take the spotlight at the second course in the series on Saturday 16th October.

Undercurrents, who in their ten years of operation have created a worldwide network of radical documentary makers, provides a platform for the news stories of video activists and independent filmmakers.

Digital Stories on Saturday 13th November, the final workshop on offer, will be run by Daniel Meadows a well experienced professional in the field of digital storytelling.

In a mobile home equipped with a gallery and a darkroom, Daniel travelled the length and breadth of England offering a free photo to everyone who posed for him.

Daniel will demonstrate how to tell your own short, powerful, personal multimedia tale.

The courses will be taking place on Saturday 18th September, Saturday 16th October and Saturday 13th November at the Courtyard in Hereford from 10am to 12.30pm.

There will be a small fee of Β£5 per ticket for each event and booking forms can be obtained from The Rural Media Company.

If you require any further information or wish to book your place on any of the three workshops please contact Alison at the Rural Media Company on 01432 344039 or info@ruralmedia.co.uk.
