  • The Cathedral was begun in 1079 by Robert Losinga of Lorraine, the first Bishop under Norman rule, and the work completed by his successors.
  • In 1645, during the Civil War, Hereford was besieged by the Scots and the rood of the Cathedral's chapter house roof which was melted down to make bullets.
  • The Cathedral is 342 feet long.
  • The tower was built between 1320 and 1340.
