Number 8 Community Arts Centre is inspired and led by the community of Pershore.

From a seed of an idea 10 years ago, a truly exciting facility has emerged.

Construction work at the new No. 8 Community Arts CentreThe capital redevelopment programme has lasted 18 months and in December 2004 Number 8 will open its doors offering a full programme of film, live events, children's workshops, courses and gallery exhibitions.

Number 8 is a voluntary run organisation; out of its 100 strong staff only the Programming & Marketing Manager is employed.

It is a true community venue and further volunteers are always welcome to join this dynamic and fun team.

You can work in the cafΓ© or bar, be film projectionist, work in the box office, and the list goes on.

There are many exciting events already planned for the first season.

There will be two children's theatre shows, a family ballet show, music nights, comedy, plays and much more.

Number 8 will feature nationally touring work through to local community based groups.

Film will be a major part of the programme with Monday Morning Matinees showing your favourite films and actors along with popular, art house and family films throughout the year.

Number 8 will also hire their facilities to community groups or individuals.

As a result there is a rich community arts and leisure programme with classes in illustration, yoga, ballet, pilates, tap, mixed media art to name a few.

These classes begin in September 2004 as The Courtyard Room will be open before the rest of the building.

They will also hire their auditorium and studio out to businesses for seminars, training and conferences.

These facilities are beautifully equipped and will provide businesses with a creative and stimulating setting for their work.

Number 8 logoAnother big initiative is the Number 8 Youth Theatre starting in January 2005.

Every Wednesday during term time there will be classes for 7-12 year olds and 13+.

A professional Youth Theatre Leader will be employed to guide young people in creating their own pieces of theatre by exploring various theatrical styles such as masks, mime and script.

It will be a highly creative and animating experience!

Number 8's first seasonal brochure will be released at the beginning of November.

Friends of Number 8 will be entitled to a week's priority booking before tickets go on general sale.
