Following his highly successful shows exploring the theme of Order in both nature and technology through various media, his new exhibition THIRTEEN gives the viewer a taste of his highly varied work.

From ceramic archaeological “finds” by way of pencil portraits to large scale oil canvasses the exhibits attempt to express some of the truths and mysteries of life.

He hopes that visitors will see beyond the surface of the work and unravel the intention behind it.

After al he says, art is a vitalising force, which
should enrich both artist and audience in its contemplation. Clues are provided to lead the visitor through the theme of the installation.

Malcolm Victory is an artist and designer who has lived in Malvern for the past 18 years.

His speciality is portraiture; owners of his work include Lord David Puttnam, Lady Thatcher, the late Sir John Geilgud and Patrick
Moore OBE.

Malcolm has worked as a draughtsman and designer as well as gaining several Patents for his inventions and those of others.

He admires the inventive genius exemplified by Leonardo Da Vinci and Thomas Alva
Edison; those minds which have ideas that are before their time.

Fittingly, this exhibition includes a portrait of Edison, whose jumper probably took longer to draw than it did to knit!

About the artist

Since moving to Malvern in 1986 he has also been a director of Malvern Fringe Festival, a local councillor and has also stood for Parliament as a Green candidate.

Since going part time at University College Worcester in 1999 to fill in the gaps in his knowledge he has been inspired to become more
creative and less reliant on his draughtsmanship. He enjoys working with clay and the exhibition includes some new ceramic work.

Malcolm has created several Community Art murals, the latest being the Malvern Jubilee Mural in June 2002, utilising advertising hoardings and purpose built boards encouraging all people to take part and become artists for a day.

His work on Cromwell Road in London in 1982 painting a billboard in a day prefigured much American billboard art and the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Billboard Art
Project some years later.

Billboards are a tremendous potential art resource which is completely devoted to advertising.

His innovative approach has set
him outside the mainstream of art practice and led him into different fields of endeavour.

His aim is to bring Art into the everyday life of Society and to break down the elitist dogmas of Modernism and the Art Market.

He feels that everyone is able to paint and draw; it is just that their expectations are too high,
and they have not spent over forty years practicing to get it “just like a
±è³ó´Ç³Ù´Ç´Ï.

The pleasure of play is the most important aspect, and if you never try, you will never improve.

After all, some modern artists try very hard to
make their work look childlike.

The exhibition runs from Tuesday 13th January to Friday 13th February at the Worcester Arts Workshop, from Tuesday to Friday 10am–3pm, and Saturday 10am–12.30pm.
