Worcester City Award Scheme and
the local architectural practice, DJD Architects,
the building contractor and the client are to be
presented with Commendations by the Mayor at
an Award Ceremony at the MayorΒ’s Parlour on
Thursday 11th December.

Practice principal and project architect David
Davis praised his clients for their faith in the
adventurous design proposals and for their
enthusiasm and support throughout the project.

The design solution for the new entrance of the
church is a new tent like folded canopy floating
above, carried by a clearly expressed tubular
steel structure and separated from the retained
masonry structure below by glazing.

The foyer area is increased by extending the enclosure with visually lightweight, part glazed, screens.

The canopy echoes the form of folded hands
and extends beyond the immediate enclosure
of the entrance area reaching out to the street
to welcome the congregation.
