"I bought my first camera when I was about 18 and have enjoyed photography as one of my hobbies ever since.

"It was not until three years ago that I started to take photography more seriously. Before starting my Information Technology degree at the University College Worcester I arranged to take some time out to travel to America and Australia for a couple of months and I bought a camera to take with me.

"The combination of having a good camera and the beauty of these other countries really elevated my interest in photography. It was then that I started to get photographs that I was happy with. Μύ

"Once I started back at university I was unable to go off to exotic places and so rediscovered how beautiful Worcestershire is.

"One of my favourite parts is the Malvern Hills as they offers stunning views of the surrounding counties and there is also so much to explore, though with a heavy tripod and camera I like to keep the walking to a minimum. Whether there is a wonderful sunset, heavy fog or snow the hills always offer many opportunities for photographs.

"Another of my favourite places to photograph is around Worcester Cathedral. It is a very picturesque building that can be seen at any time of day or night from many viewpoints such as from Fort Royal Hill, or from the Worcester Bridge.

"I enjoy taking photographs of local scenery, as there is so much to offer on our doorsteps. It is also much cheaper than travelling to Australia every weekend. I would like to take the time to see more of the county that I live in.

"Photography has enabled me see things in a different perspective. Μύ My most successful photographs are two that I took of Whitby pier whilst I was on holiday in September.

"One was taken at night and I could hardly see what I was taking.

"The other was taken at 6am as the sun rose over the sea.

"These two photographs were of the same subject but both have a very different appeal due to the light at different times of day. Sunrise and sunset generally offer the best light for landscape photography, however, I tend to take more photographs at sunset because of the unsocial hours of sunrise. Μύ

"I created a website for my photographs as a college project and it has grown rapidly in both size and popularity. The website has given me the opportunity to show my photography to people all over the world.

"I would like to use the website to complement my photography and in the future I hope to add a lot more information on the site that would be useful to other amateur photographers.

"One of my ambitions is to travel around all of the counties in Britain and to expand my website by including a gallery of photographs from each county. Μύ

"My hopes for the future are that I become a successful and respected photographer. I would like to travel more and see landscapes and cultures of other countries around the world. At the moment I am trying to expand my hobby and would eventually love to become a professional landscape photographer. Μύ

"My advice to other photographers or artists is to experiment as much as you can until you find what you enjoy and persevere with it."
