Peter
Corkhill's work made such an impact to a panel of prestigious judges
that it is now up for an interntional award.
Peter
describes his work, 'one week in your life'.
"I've
been into photography for about three years now. I got into itΜύwhilst
doing a course on popular music and out of interest decided to enrol
on a camera induction course, and it's came quite naturally from
there.

These
photographs seek to map the breakdown of a relationship.
I wanted
them to reflect the sense of insecurity, loneliness and isolation
I was feeling and also to indicate the sense I had of being forced,
involuntarily, through a series of emotional and physical changes.
They
were taken over the space of a week in January 2002, and indicate
my reaction to the space where I found myself and the memories and
associations that it both triggered and accentuated.

As
for support for local photographers, it depends which line of photography
you practice, but with the art college being up the road and the
annual Hereford photo festival I have found there to beΜύa good level
of interest in the area.
I've been
accepted into Bournmouth arts institute with the idea of finishing
my degree there, but after winning the D&AD prize for photography
my options are open and I am currently organising my portfolio in
order to present it to various agencies and contacts."
