Severn Trent have admitted in an interview with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Gloucesterhire that they were caught out by the unprecedented weather over the past month which saw the Mythe treatment works at Tewkesbury put out of action by the flooded River Severn.

The works was built above any previous highest level of the river and yet still had one foot of water flow into it.Μύ

Martin Kane, Director of Customer Relations at Severn Trent, admitted there was no contingency plan in place during an interview with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Gloucestershire's Mark Cummings on Friday morning.

He told us the flood defences were considered strong enough to withstand heavy rain.

"The site was built above the flood plain, so the protection was considered to be appropriate," he said.

Bosses say a six feet flood defence wall has now been built around the works.
