Here's how to join in some of the Word Magic if you can't come to one of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning Centre's family fun days ...

Listed here are some word-play games and online links to help you get creative and have some fantastic fun in the wonderful world of words.Μύ

Play with your family or friends and see who comes up with the funniest phrase, poem or story.

NAME GAMES

Silly sentences - Make one up using the first letter of your name.Μύ

Example: Crazy Clare cooked crab custard

Crazy Characters - You've heard of Mickey Mouse - now match your name with surprising word starting with the same letter. If you feel artistic draw a picture of your characters.

Example: Matthew Mincemeat, Sophie Sandcastle

RHYME TIME

Poems on a plate - write a rhyme on a paper plate about gruesome grub or fabulous food

Examples:
The taste of peas gives me wobbly knees
When I get chips I lick my lips

Poet cards - Write a short poem on a postcard about a friend or someone in your family

Examples:
This is a poem for Becky Brown
She really likes to go to town
And spend her time going round the shops
And listening to the latest pops

Robert Green is my Dad's name
Rugby is his favourite game

Stuck for a rhyme? See the online rhyming dictionary:

Type in a word and take your pick from the words it will generate that rhyme.

SILLY STORIES

Pass-it-on tales - You can do this on paper or out loud - the first person invents a sentence to start a story and the next person continues, going round the group once or several times.
