Sucralose recipes
The safety of sucralose was reviewed by the European Scientific Committee on Food in 2000, and they concluded that it is safe for human consumption. The Acceptable Daily Intake of sucralose is 5mg per 1kg body weight.
Although sucralose is made from sugar, it is not recognised by the body as sugar or broken down for energy, so it is considered to have no effect on insulin or blood sugar levels. It is up to 650 times sweeter than sugar and is extremely stable to both heat and cold, so it can be used for baking and frozen desserts. It is marketed as a table-top sweetener and in tablet form. It is used by food manufacturers in many products, including soft drinks, yogurts and other desserts.
