Rice cake recipes
Rice cakes are dry, disc-shaped snacks made from puffed rice. They are associated with diet foods due to their low calorie content and can be eaten with a variety of sweet and savoury condiments, including pΓΆtΓ©, cream cheese and peanut butter. In recent years, rice cakes have made the move into snack territory, though the smaller, flavoured, bite-sized versions may be higher in fat and salt.
Storage
Keep rice cakes stored in an airtight container; they will last for weeks in dry, cool conditions. If your rice cakes have gone slightly soggy, heat them in the oven to crisp them up.
Preparation
Rice cakes require special pressurised equipment to make. As such, it’s relatively difficult to safely make them at home. However, they’re widely available from most supermarkets and health food stores.
